How to Begin
There are four ways to access an application, online, download, by mail or email. By far the easiest, fastest, and most user friendly is Online simply click Students & License Applications and you're on your way! A hardcopy Complete Licensure Packet can be downloaded (bottom of this page, MS word or PDF format), requested by mail or EMAIL The FREE Acrobat Reader is required to view and print the PDF document (click HERE to obtain the Acrobat Reader program).
INSTRUCTIONS - How to apply
OnlIne applicants: complete the online application, forward your verification(s) and reference forms to the appropriate parties, and pay your fees.
Paper applications: must be typewritten, not handwriten, include a recent photograph, forward the verification and reference forms to the appropriate parties, and pay your fees. Instructions for completing the forms are included in the PE complete licensure packet.
Comity applicants with an NCEES council record, the instruction page in the licensure packet lists which forms we will accept from your record. Also, if you'll be sealing plans for a firm, the firm must also be licensed by having a valid Certificate of Authorization (see this page Other Engineer Forms for information and application).
Offering to perform, contracting for or initiating engineering services prior to the applicant or his firm becoming licensed may be a violation of the Board's Laws and Rules (A.C.A. §17-30-102 and Article 16). If a violation occurs it could subject the applicant and or firm to disciplinary action and fines and/or delay or prohibit the applicant or firm from becoming licensed.
Paper applications will be returned if these instructions are not followed.
PAYMENT - How to pay
Online applicatIon: credit card (Vias, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express) or e-check.
Paper application: check (personal, company or bank) or money order payable to PELS Board.

FEES - What to pay
All fees shall be non-refundable unless waived by Board action!
Original License -this will be your first license and you want to take the Principles and Practice of Engineering (P&PE) Exam. The application fee is constant, however the exam fee is based upon which P&PE exam the applicant wants to take:
$255.00 ($75.00 for application, $180.00 for any discipline except the 16 hour Structural Exam)
$1,075.00 ($75.00 for application, $1000.00-$500.00 for each module of the 16 hour structural exam)
Retake: 8 hour vertical or lateral force module: $500.00 each module
Retake: P&PE exam: $180.00
Comity License - An Arkansas license based upon current licensure in another state: $200.00
After your application has been approved!!
NCEES Exam Administration fee: $100.00 (registration information will be sent to you).
IF YOU'RE RETAKING AN EXAM, THE PROCESS STARTS BY PAYING YOUR RETAKE FEE TO THE BOARD. REGISTERING WITH NCEES BEFORE THIS STEP MAY RESULT IN A SEAT NOT BEING RESERVED FOR YOU.
Examinations
Examinations are given in April and October of each year. In order to be considered for the requested exam, your application must be received by the Board and complete by the cutoff date.
April exam cutoff date for completed applications: January 1st.
October exam cutoff for completed applications: July 1st.
If any part of the application is received after the cutoff date, your application will be assigned to the next testing cycle.
Notification
Upon successful verification of submitted information, the application will be reviewed and applicants will be notifed by e-mail of the decision. NCEES will notify all examinees regarding their results and those passing will be posted under the Hot Topics on our Homepage. This will be followed by an email from the Board.
